SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit)

Control System of Supply Chain Work Practice

A significant number of companies (mainly multinationals) require their suppliers to undergo ethical audits using the SMETA method.

One such inspection is the Responsible Sourcing Audit (RSA).

The purpose of these inspections is to determine whether a company's supplier complies with the company's supplier code.

SMETA inspections require the company to do some basic actions, some of which are mandatory (eg conducting the inspection) and some optional (e.g. registering on the SEDEX platform, answering a self-assessment questionnaire, etc.)

The company is usually inspected in 4 pillars (SMETA-4pillar audit) which are:

  • Safety and Health.
  • Enviroment
  • Labor Conditions.
  • Business Integrity.

Aristi Consultants, having successfully completed the first such inspection on behalf of Manifest Services (supplier of Nestle Hellas), can successfully support any company in all stages of preparation until its successful inspection by authorized bodies.
